Root Canal Therapy

Endodontic treatment treats the inside of the tooth. It is necessary when the pulp is inflamed or infected from a variety of causes, including deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth and/or large fillings, or a crack or chip in the tooth. During root canal treatment, the pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth cleaned and disinfected, then filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Afterwards, a crown or filling is used to restore the tooth for protection.
